There's only one place that I go for chinese style breakfast. The place is called Emerald Seafood Restaurant located on Convoy. Dim Sum can be considered as having appetizers for breakfast. The employees push hot carts containing various appetizer dishes and will show you what they have. You can then either pick what dishes you want or request ones that you don't see. They usually have all sorts of dumplings, rice porridge, noodles, etc. Their service is pretty good. They'll make sure you get the dishes that you request. If you've never experienced it, you definitely should. Did I mention they have dessert carts too. Below is one of my favorite dessert plate...egg tarts ;p
Dim sum good enough for the President
Great Eastern Restaurant

There are plenty of dim sum restaurants in Chinatown San Francisco. But where do you go? With help from Yelp, I was able to find this restaurant Great Eastern. And I must say, the dim sum experience here did not disappoint me or my family and we're tough critics I tell ya (especially my mom). We were seated pretty promptly when we got in even though the place was completely packed. The menu was given to us with a fill out check sheet for us to mark what we wanted. We pretty much ordered half the menu and the waiter thought it would be too much for us. It was just enough because we finished all the food ;) The food came out fresh and hot from the steamers. My normal orders of shrimp dumplings (hai gow), pork dumplings (pork shu mai), shrimp rice paper rolls, and chicken feet were really good. I then tried their meatballs and chive dumplings. Usually these can either be good or bad depending on where I dine. They were good here ;p For dessert we ordered the egg custard tarts, taro cake, and the crispy fried meat turnover (football). They were flaky, crispy, and chewy good. My brother was quite a risk taker and topped off the meal with turtle shell jello. He said it was different but wasn't bad. I didn't taste it so I can't tell you how I feel about it. Kudos for him for trying it though ;p And did I mention President Obama has also gotten take out from this restaurant. Check for yourself:
